French Village Street (Siesta Time)

Hello,
I took this in May in the village of Meyssac in France. Do you think the lack of a human presence detracts from the photo. I generally like to include a human presence to inject some life into the shot. This was taken around midday when everybody was having their lunch/nap (35 degrees outside) and despite waiting for 30 mins, noone obliged by walking into the shot. Thank goodness I’ve figured the timer since then so I can be the human presence myself :D . Any other comments/critique appreciated.
jb7ParticipantI don’t think the lack of people detracts from this one-
I feel I can comment on this picture because the processing is just a little over the top,
and not completely totally over the top…
Even so, it is very warm…My monitor has quite a fine pitch, so I seldom see grain when somebody else mentions it,
but there does seem to be a grain to this-
is it applied? There also seems to be a glow or a blur, although the picture is in focus, is this applied too?
I like the picture, looks like a very picturesque spot,
but I’m not a big fan of heavy processing-
not too sure if this location needs added antiquity…RASMITH32MemberAnother great shot!. If I was the owner of the Cafe in the shot I would certainly purchase this photo, its excellent. I love the shadows
5faytheParticipantHi Barry,
I like the look of this.
It has a painterly feel to it.
I wouldn’t know what the actual colour of the scene was
but I find the warm tones attractive.Despite it being taken around midday you have done well
to get good detail all around the frame.Nice.
John.
markclehaneParticipantHi Barry,
I have to say, I love everything about this image and feel the addition of a person walking through it would have detracted from the tranquil feeling of it. A cat or sleeping dog would be the only life Id have in it. As it stands,Id be more than happy to have this hanging on my wall  If I had to be critical I might try croppping a little off the top to get rid of the darkest area but it still does it for me. By the way you never mentioned how you processed it. HDR?Mark
brendancullenParticipantBeautifully framed, captured and processed. You are a master Barry.

I really like the HDR processing. It brought out the best in light and atmosphere.
I also think I prefer it without a person in the shot
