French Watch Tower, Waterford City

The first thing that springs to mind, is I’ld probably have shot it from the other side (face onto the tower) to avoid capturing the modern buildings in the photo. Or crop very close to the tower to take them out. The lines leading from right to left draw your eye straight to them.
I agree with Brendan; the houses really ruin the shot. T
However, the composition and contrast is really great.
Perhaps you could change the angle to the left a little (assuming you can return to the site)
and crop whatever remaining view of houses out, and it will be great :)8)
