Frisky!!

ExpresbroParticipant
Shot of a very refined looking Horse Trader and her frisky charge. One of the shots from my morning with Ciaran, Lorraine and Dave Last Sunday. Was a great morning and very informative. Thanks guys.
LoGillParticipantI really like it Robbie … Funny how you gravitated in her direction ;) Hmmmmmmm
I love the smile on her face and the grimace on the horse’s   The “Boyos” in the back are a little disctracting – but the more I look at them I see that they are engaged in looking at her (or the horse) so .. I’m liking that actually.
My only suggestion is to try bring in a bit more of the detail in the white of the horse’s back .
Good ‘n Sharp ;)
L
ExpresbroParticipantThanks Lorraine. I was thinking about cropping the boyos..but the fact they are engaged with the scene I thought added a little extra dimension to the shot..so there they are in all their hooded glory :D
I did do a bit of work in the Raw converter to bring back the detail in the horses back..as it was quite blown looking in the original. I wasn’t sure how to edit it then when I converted to Jpeg. I suppose the burn tool would be the one to do it in right?
I was just thinking that this lady and Lemmy..er..Frankie would make a nice couple…!! What do ya think…?
RobertoMemberjb7ParticipantGood shot Robbie-
Would agree about the back,
though you would be better off to get it as good as you can in the Raw converter
rather than the burn tool-Boys in the backround are ok,
I suppose I’m not really into gratuitous cloning-
especially in a street shot like this-Though considering the project you all set for yourself at the weekend,
these are more like Documentary anyway-j
Madra RuaParticipantI really like this one, Robbie.
Almost more of a documentary than a candid shot.
Very well exposed apart from the horses behind.davenewtParticipantExpresbroParticipantThanks guys…and yeah…thinking about it..I suppose it is more documentary than street..but there’s a fine line between them anyway most of the time :D If someone wants to move it please do so…same difference to me :)
I did think the symmetry between the horses smile and his/hers (never checked!) owners is quite humourous okay..and like I said..the boys add a dimension to the shot and allow her a bit more space..it would have been cropped to tight otherwise…and I really hate cloning unless I absolutely have to mostly cos I’m not very good at it yet.
Anyway..the real purpose of the day for me was to give the D80 a maiden run and, to use an apt analogy..break her in :D
AliParticipantGot to hold the D80 tonight in the camera club, lovely bit of kit Robbie, very best of luck with it. :) Only getting round to commenting now, already see you’ve brought back the detail in the back as Lorraine suggested, great job (little nit pick – I think you might have cloned some of the window?). Grain works well and I think the lads in the background add a bit of humour to the pic – I think they are more interested in you taking the shot than the horse by the looks of it :D
ExpresbroParticipantGod bless yer eyesight Ali… :D I think you’re right…just went a smidgen past the line of the horses back. I hadn’t noticed till you pointed it out…so it’s gonna have to wait now…waaay to sleepy for Photoshop.
Am chuffed with the D80 Ali…and am glad I got the Battery grip with it as it really adds some extra body and weight…(I like weight…not a person who likes everything to be ultra light), plus it give me even more grip.
Of course..now I’m on the endless money-go-round….what’s next…Wideangle lens, longer lens, faster lens, Flash Units, Diffusers, Filters, Tripods, monopods…..Ipods…!!
The list goes on :D :D
AliParticipantReally is a nice sturdy camera, my hands are too ickle for a grip though and with the flash the weight is just about right for me. As for what to buy next, choose wisely young man, i’m still wondering what to buy..that said, the damn house has me under the thumb for a while until i finish doing it up :) Damn you, i want to go shopping now.
ExpresbroParticipantHehehe!! Nothing like a bit of retail therapy to cheer ya up Ali. I was looking at one of the Nikon flash units with Ciaran there on Sunday (SB600) and think that might be my next investment..really handy for those indoor shots..oh and the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 prime lens….
That’s it for now…Oh…and a half decent tripod…*L*
I’m gonna have to pull out my guitar and start busking… 8)
Wanna join me?
AliParticipant:lol: Sounds like a plan, wait for the karaoke and i’ll see how good you are – if all else fails i’ll shoot you all day ;). I definitely think a flash should be high up there on your list of things to get, even aim higher and go for the sb800, I paid 260 euro for one in the states – for next to nothing. P.S 9 months later and i still don’t have a tripod
ExpresbroParticipantThat’s a deal!! hehehe!! Karaoke shoot-out..
I must check out the SB800…but money is an issue with me…think I’ve worn out my justifications for spending…so ?200 might be my limit…then no tripod for a while longer ..
Anyhway’s Ali..i’m off to bed….catch ya tomorrow :D
GrahamBParticipantRobbie,
first of all excellent shot, glad to see the Nikon is helping you bring out the talent that was already there.
It is a great shot in my book. I agree with earlier comments that the guys in the bottom right are a tiny bit distracting
but to remove them would give too much of a processed look and the overall images would suffer.
It’s a great capture and looks well worth enduring the miserable weather.Secondly have a couple of spare tripods and would gladding give one to you.
I would say the flash gun would rate higher on the shopping list so if you want
to borrow a tripod for a while let me know. They wouldn’t be the best in the world but they’ll
certainly help out a bit.Anyway again great picture
Graham
