It’s not likely to be the same emulsion though. One of the reasons Fuji gave for discontinuing the original Fujichrome Velvia 50 was that some of the key ingredients used in the manufacture of the film are no longer available (I don’t know if that meant the ingredients were actually extinct, deemed too expensive, or prohibited by new environmental legislation). Anyway, if they re-introduce it with different ingredients it’s going to have different characteristics. It wouldn’t surprise me if this behaved more like Velvia 100 than the original Velvia 50.
I doubt they will go to the trouble of re-introducing the 50 if its not a very close copy of the original. In fact many people couldnt tell the difference from the 100 and the old 50. But this new film is pitched at a very specialist group of photographers and Fuji would be mad to offer anything less than an identical emulsion.
I agree, it should be close to the original and best. The first 100 was dire in comparision with the original 50…but the new 100 is very good indeed. Apparently some chemicals in the old 50 are now prohibited by new environmental legislation.
