DenverDollParticipant
I just wondered what anyone thinks of this…it doesn’t follow any rules and its cropped all to bits and I can see multiple failings and flaws…but every time I look at it…I smile..would anyone else appreciate it? Or is there just too much personal involvement for me…(I love my wacky dog) for it to be considered good to others? Thanks a mil! Shar
stcstcMemberhey shar
the dogs expression is priceless
i quite like the conversion, although i think a little more contrast would help it along
the grass does seem a little over sharp
and the knee right in the centre is a little odd
Jay KingParticipantHave to say the dog does look funny alright!! Is that a perm!?! ;)
The child looks like she is about to step out of the photo…
DenverDollParticipantHey thanks you guys!
Steve~~~yeah..it was a miserable photo to begin with and it was sort of an exercise in finding the true subject. In this case..I couldn’t ignore Buffy’s ears! I did mess and mess and over mess with it. Will see if I can tone it back into reality!
Jay King~~~hahaha…poodle with a perm…now that would be pretty kinky! Is it good or bad that the child is stepping out of the photo????
RavenAshMemberBuffy isn’t camera shy. Like the dogs expression, it was the focus for me in this shot.

Well for me it’s a good thing ;) I like it!
Do you have any more of the image on the bottom? Only looking for a few pixels, I’d like to see the whole of her left foot which is in the air…
…and sure while I’m asking Id like to see a tiny bit more of the left hand side too… so her fingers aren’t right on the edge!! (am I being greedy here….!?!)
RobMemberI can see why it makes you smile Shar, made me smile too.
As has been said already, it’s all about Buffy’s expression, that
mindless manic joie de vivre that only a dog could display
(easy to tell I’m a dog lover).
And with that in mind, it should be easy to see where improvements
can be made. For instance, draw a vertical line from the bottom of
the frame along the edge of the girls left shoe right to the top of the
frame, remove everything to the right of that line, and you haven’t lost
anything at all of your image; all the important elements are to the
left of it – the girl almost stepping out of the picture, and the psychotic
dog in pursuit.
The conversion is a little grey and flat, but I’m sure that could be
revisited and improved upon with a little work.
Don’t be misled by my going on a bit, I do actually like it.Rob.
DenverDollParticipantRavenash~~~thanks so much for your comment! It was her expression that I couldn’t ignore too.
Jay King~~~thanks a mil for the help…foot in..but after following (or trying as best I could) Rob’s suggestion..I am wondering if I should just lose the hand altogether?……..hmmm..if you see this again…please let me know what you think :)
Rob~~~Yep her *joie de vivre* is heartwarming always. Here’s what I’ve got now. Thanks a mil for the suggestion..it really does improve the focus! Do you think she is a bit too central though?
There was room..but not much interest on left either..so it disappeared too.jb7ParticipantThat second version much better Sharon-
That’s the picture that was struggling to get out-Dontya love comedy dogs :D
j
JohnParticipantThat Second Version is GREAT Sharon.
You can save it for the dogs Grandkids, so he/she can show them what she/he had to put up with in his/her day :wink:DenverDollParticipantJb7~~~well thank you dawling….or credit where credit is due…the great advice and instruction of all who sweetly replied :D
John~~~thanks a million! It’s so funny you say that..because she does see my darling little dog bosser every Sunday afternoon and you can see her cringe when the little girl spies her and gallops towards her to take her for her ~walk~..after a couple of minutes though…it’s all good between them…
Alan RossiterParticipantI’d echo previous comments Sharon. I could see the image in the first version trying to get out and you applied the comments perfectly. I don’t think the image is too central – OK, Buffy is, but the overall balance is right with the little girl (name escapes me right now) gives the impression of moving into space. I think the conversion is fine too. It’s not as contrasty as some B&W images but the sharpness holds it together in this respect.
Alan
DenverDollParticipantAw thanks IrishwonkAlan!
Is good to hear an opinion on the centrality issue as I just couldn’t decide.
If you saw the original..(had to be converted…no question) it’s amazing that it got cut down to this in order to find a reasonable shot. I guess it really is good advice to never ever delete and try to get an a second opinion. I am fairly pleased with this result myself now :D

And so you should be Shar…it’s a fun quirky image and shows great imagination….the revised version is a big improvement too..
Well done :D
RavenAshMemberGreat improvement with the new crop.
Another one for the doggie album.
