Just one from this weekend, it’s not exceptional, but I’m going to try post an image a week here as it’s a slow forum and nees to keep busy!

    Sorry,

but the image is quite soft. Considering the lens / camera combination and the amount of great light in the image it should be alot sharper.

What Shutter Speed did you use ?
Have you cropped it right down ?

    Regards,
    Conor

I agree! It’s mainly the crop, they were right at the far end of the pitch and I was on the other end line. The light was fine (it was actually bright one side of the pitch, and dark on the other), and this shot was 1/6400 due to ISO 1000 which I needed for the dark areas.

Good to see that honest opinion’s are expressed!

1/6400…what the??? I’ve shot field sports a few times, and surely if 1/500 is enough to stop an f1 car coming down a straight, it would be more than enough to stop people running. Also unless the game is at night, asa 1000 is a bit extreme. My thoughts. Apart from that, as already said, it’s soft which means bin IMO. Brutal honesty!

Thanks Mark, I’d be tempting to agree on this one.

So, Lets tease out how sharp is sharp enough.

    How about this one:
