Really nice set Dave, I love the first image it is really sharp and great dof,
Had a camera club competition last night with nature and wildlife theme,
the judge was excellent and gave everyone a very in depth critique of their
images. I was amazed at the amount of no go areas in this genre! Purely
at competition level but it was a mine field! Lol!

What do you mean by ‘no go areas in this genre’ Jenny?

So many “rules” in competitions in this genre like no images of birds on or near their nests, a license is needed to photograph any bird on its nest, that is from a Sparrow to a Golden Eagle. Making sure focus is spot on on macro images with sufficient depth of field to include the whole bug. No man made influences in the frame, so a Robin sitting on a fence would not be considered, making sure if you are taking images of insects that they are in the right environment, for instance I had an image of a caterpillar on a flower stem, and he knew that that particular caterpillar would not eat the flower, so it was considered “out of its habitat” and that I had placed the caterpillar there, which I had because the flower colour was nice…lol.

All of these “rules” are purely in the competition arena.

If that’s the case I didn’t do too bad, I was waiting for a bashing there. I was afraid to ask Johns question. :D
