Gateshead Quays
-
Matt HarperParticipant
Spend one Wednesday back in cold November in the beutiful city of Newcastle/Gatehead. Spent most of my time down on the riverside/Gatehead Quays.
Cheers for looking,
Matt.
FlipflipParticipantWow. Stunning shots.
Some of the best Ive seen on here in a while. in my humble opinion anyway!
The processing on the first is spot on. Really well done.
Third is my second favourite.
The rest are just consitently good.
Cant say much to fault!
PixelleMember#1 Suggest a bit of rotation
#2 I’d go for a central level point of view, others wouldn’t!
#3 Rats!! There isn’t a straight line in the place for me to be picky with! Foiled again.
#5 I looove the diverging “perpendiculars.”joe_elwayParticipantReally like #1. Love #5. The stairs is too uneven for me. Can’t make up my mind about #3 .. I either love it or hate it ???
earthairfireParticipantYAY – Gotta love this city! Not that I’m biased, being from Newcastle, or anything… lol
I really miss the architecture there – soooo many great photo locations.
#1 love the processing. needs some rotation, though.
#2 just doesn’t leap off the screen at me, but i have no idea why. maybe an unclear main focal point?
#3 love it love it love it
#4 shame there’s no colour in the sky. I reckon with a little post processing, this shot could have real punch.
#5 again, shame about the sky. Personally I’d correct the distortion too, but some people may prefer it like this!
#6 really interesting processing – love the high contrast
#7 similar to number 2 for me really – i feel I should like it, but no real focal point makes me a little unsure…Hope the comments help! It’s rare for me to comment on a 7 image post, so feel yourself sprinkled with the geordie love :D

LoGillParticipantPretty much agree with what Tim says… really lovely images – but three….. *sigh* thats like chocolate .. smooth, dark, rich and YUM…

stcstcMemberthis really makes me miss home!!!
I was involved with the development of the flour mills, but then left the job i was in and never actualy got to see if finished
My fave would be number 1
I am not keen on the distortion in No.5 although it does make the building stand out
mgstParticipantGreat set of shots
3, 4, & 7 for me
No 3 seems to be the order of the day great conversion love the shadow , highlights and the contours.

Matt HarperParticipantThanks for the all the feedback. Really enjoyed shooting Gatehdead keys. looking back, perhaps the 10mm end of my 10-20mm Sigma isn’t the wisist move! Looking forward to reshooting/revisiting in the summer when its abit warmer!
Again, Thanks for the feedback,
Matt.
RobMemberThree and seven for me, in equal measure. Looks like a brilliant
location to visit and photograph. One of these days…Rob.
stcstcMemberrob
its really cheap to get there too as ryanair flys there, i just did a quick look at flights 1 euro each way plus taxes etc
and theres a great hotel right on the quayside which is not expensive either
and the nightlife, well you would be in for a huge suprise temple bar looks like a tea party in comparison

richiehatchMemberStunning set of images… second one isnt as strong as the others.. third and fifth are superb… lovely conversions too..!

jb7ParticipantGood set of pictures,
all really well processed too-
Rather a lot of them to go into any detail,
though the tilts evident in all of them
would suggest that that is a style you’re going for-particularly like the colouring in the first one-
