    Good one Lorraine, very impressed-
though I’d have to admit that a lot of the kudos must go to the model-
I’m sure if I could find as good a model as this,
    I’d be trying it myself-

I particularly like the line of the shoulder as it curves through the frame-

    And as Rob mentiioned,
a lot of honesty and integrity to the shot-

LoGill this photo is a beaut
And says so much e’en though it’s mute
I wonder if the positioning in the frame
Of the model (I don’t know her name)
Was caused by your failure to look through the viewfinder?
In spite of which the picture’s a blinder.
I’d have wiped the chocolate off her lips
And held the hair on the left with clips
Apart from that I’m very impressed
Of pics I’ve seen it’s one of the best

    excellent critique, I think this style should be compulsory :) Thanks for making me laugh out loud today ..

    JB – Thanks a million .. I’m chuffed you like it :)

Lorraine, sorry this is so late. For some reason I couldn’t get this open, and for some reason I just kept trying! So glad I did. I think this is really beautiful.
    It has simplicity and mystery.
I agree with Robbie and others about the eyes, they are just magnetic.

Lorraine, I think it depends on what you set out to do.

As I belive this a self-portrait better be careful, lol

If you set out to do a flattering picture then I’m not sure if it works well at that level. You (or your subject) appear to be straining forward slightly and pressing your mouth and chin towards the camera. That, at least to me, creates more a feeling of tension or anxiety – perhaps not what you’d want.

On the other hand, if you wanted a thought-provoking, maybe slightly stark, image then I’d say you’ve succeeded. Might also have been interesting to try this without flash, so there is more shadow on one side of the face. Or, if you were intending black and white, using something like a table-lamp so the shadows are easily seen.

Agree with everyone else about the cropping/framing however – very effective.

    Like it :)

  Ah feel free, I’m a big girl I can take it ;) .. I have no aspirations to be anything other than photographer ;)

So … did I set out to do this self portrait – Nope.. I just had no one else to play with :(
This was a test set-up for a panel I’m working – will they have this look – hopefully …. but improved :D I did quite a bit of messing around with and without flash, and settled on this as what I was looking for .. the tension and slight uncomfortable feeling is part of what i’m hoping for .. planning it is driving me nuts :D

Thanks for taking the time the comment, I’m glad you liked it :D
