G’day from Australia
-
AusieguyParticipant
I’m an Australian looking to visit Ireland from August 24 – 27. My travel agent suggested I try to find an Irish photographer or photography group who might be willing to help me visit scenic areas in Ireland. I would of course expect to pay expenses, and am willing to address a group on my photographic interests. If anyone out there is willling, please contact me for arrangements.
I am a retired school teacher originally from America and working on making a name for myself in Alice Springs, Australia as a landscape and nature photographer. I generally do landscapes by stitching multiple digital photographs together and printing on canvas & paper with a new HP 24″ printer. I’ve also a growing collection of local birds, reptiles and insects. My largest print so far is 50cm X 240 cm. We have a small group of amateur and professional photographers in Alice, several of which have achieved high honors in the APS. I’m a newbie and in my first submission of 4 panoramas in Austria 2 months ago got 2 acceptances. I along with other members of our local group would enjoy showing any members of this group around the Territory when they visit.PeteTheBlokeMemberWelcome to the site Mate. The whole of Ireland is scenic, so you’ll have no problem getting photos. It’s a long way to come for 3 days though.
RavenAshMemberGoodday Mate. :)
What part of Ireland were you thinking of visiting.

AusieguyParticipantI have a pictural book on Ireland with many lovely pastoral scenes, green rolling hills with farms, castles and cliffs. There is one of Dunluce castle that would make a lovely shot although I expect most of the time would be spent to the South. I will be booking a room in Dublin for 3 days though this can be changed to suit the circumstances. Somewhere with a B & B might be nicer. I expect to be lugging 2 suitcases, one with clothes and the other with canvas prints to show family & friends as well as to sell, my camera equipment and laptop computer.
I’ve a fear of height so while the cliffs are fascinating don’t know as I could get close enough to do a proper shoot. I’m open to suggestions. This will be part of a round the world trip, visiting family in Chicago, with stop offs in Ireland and around 5 days with wife’s family in Germany. I’m 62 and hesitate to drive by myself and not sure of how much I can visit in a day??? In Alice Springs we have many tours available and the worst leaves Alice around noon, drives 500k to Ayers Rock for the sunset, then returns to Alice very late.GCPParticipantWelcome to the site and you will be very welcome in Ireland also. You will not be short of locations to photograph.
PixelleMemberThere are day tours from Dublin to the following – Glendalough, Powerscourt Gardens and Wicklow (January to December); Newgrange and the Boyne Valley (January to December); Kilkenny City, Duiske Abbey and Nore Valley; River Barrow Cruise and visit to Waterford Crystal; and the Mountains of Mourne.
I got the above from

These are scenic areas with plenty of rolling hills, farmland and castles, ruined or otherwise. Some of them have their own websites so you could check them beforehand. Dunluce would require a relocation or a very long daytrip!
The trips can be booked online.
