I don’t normally do this type of stuff but Gerry asked me if I’d give it a lash. Taken during a rehersal at the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan. Bigger versions available by clicking on the pic. Comments greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

I like the angle and the inclusion of the overhead lights on the second one.

Actually, having looked at the third a bit more, the long shadow of the guitar is a nice effect.

I like the siluet of the first photo. If the lips are little bit more visible would be perfect for me.
The second one has good angle but little bir static.
Third photo is good. It’s pity that we can not see the full shadow.

Nice work Valentia to get such sharp images in that kind of light. Especially like the first image, clever composition and lovely effect fading out of black to the sharp edge of the profile. Gerry should be well pleased.

I think the first one is really terrific. I would have liked to perhaps see some light falling on his mouth and mic to make it stand out, but apart from that it’s one of the better gig shots I’ve seen. For me, the other two just don’t compare

Thanks very much everyone for your comments. I have converted some to B&W and I feel that that gives them more punch and drama. The colour ones may have been posted in haste with the excitement of a new adventure. Here’s three of the B&W’s anyway.

That second of your black and whites….. SUPERB! The best gig shot by a long chalk on the forum. Love it.

Excellent Valentia, I love the first shot. He must be absolutely chuffed with these. The second is so crisp and the lighting conditions seemed to be just perfect for you.
I find alot of gig shots end up very Red which doesn’t appeal to me – i like these.
