Does this forum only say a shot is nice if it’s straight out of the camera?

I think number 3 is a stunner. If I want to pick the bones out of it I would ask why is the causeway that’s facing the camera and backed by the sun not in shadow as previously stated by the other sleuths. Honestly though I couldn’t care less coz it looks great to me. If it is a PS job, (and it is cough) a little insight would be nice to read.

Reminds me of when I lived abroad and someone sent me a poster of Dublin for my wall. The sun was in the wrong place for exactly the same lighting reasons and it did me head in. Not as good as yours though.

I think as photographers and the prevalence of PS enhanced images we are naturally suspicious and with local knowledge it’s like stating how a magician has done his trick. It’s a fault in all of us methinks.

I too love the 3rd one purely for the wow factor. I don’t care where the light lies, if it’s natural, or anything else…it’s a stunning image. The rest have their merits but as I stated on a few occasions when you post multiple images in a post some will be better than others, or worser than others.

    Alan.

I have to disagree here i think both shots terriable, from composition to the post production! As for replacing an entire sky, it isnt hard to do but making it look real is another thing to me this just looks like an example of how it shouldnt be done!

My advice is to go buy a grad filter or two and try again!

indeed very unusual images of the GC. Colour saturation and size propotion of the images work very well together. The warm light of no 3 creates a lot of depth – not sure about the oversaturated red in the background – to soften that just a tinny little bit would benefit the overall impression of the image – the substance is excellent.

    Cheers M*

PS: the colour versions are stronger than the B&W
