hey,
anyone have any idea of what i might charge to go along
to a gig and take some shots?? have been asked after been
to a good few over the last few months.?
any info much appreciated.
cheersgrif04Participanti charge 50euro for 15-20 shots processed of the band playing live. i think its a sound/fair figure as i dont do much processing and it only takes about 20 – 30mins to get a nice few shots. drummers can be a balls though.
RodredMemberthanks for the feedback, how do you go about getting the gigs?
cotact the bands direct and ask if they want shots taken??cheers
Robgrif04Participantusually they contact me by word of mouth to be honest. but there is no harm in seeing a shit poster of a band and asking them would they like to do a shoot (live or location)
RodredMemberCheers Kevin,
i am trying to build up a bit of a cv, but goin to the gigs and sending photos
onto the band, thinking it is probably best to put on my fliker and just give them link
so that they can only view with the option to buy maybe?
as i am only starting out, i need to have as much exposure, so that the word of mouth
thing can start.
suppose i need to just go to more gigs.
would be great if you could give me some feedback on my shots
you can check them out here:

RobMeleKalikimakaParticipantRodredMemberthanks ,
thanks for the feedback. your shots are great, can i ask you
did you get photo pass for the gigs that you have shot or were you
just at the show?cheers
grif04Participantyou should look up myspace and make a photography type account, there are alot of musicians from Ireland on myspace.music. here you can leave a comment with a link to your gallery.
you dont really need a photo pass to go into gigs and take photos at a venue. Alot of people use cameras to take photos inside bars and pubs, just dont be in the way or harrasing the band and customers. common sense really.
i find that alot of the time when im watching a band i end up having a chat with them afterwards and they are usually very much up for taking my card to do a live or location shoot for the band. you should get some cards done to hand out to bands after you have seen them play.
