Read an article in a mag about trying to get an IR affect through photoshop. Thought I’d give it a go. C&C welcome. :D

Conversion works well, just the sky looks real grainy.

Nice shot & B&W works well. The sky is noisy & as your edit box is ticked “Yes”, I had a little play. I hope you dont mind. Joe.

Thanks all for the feedback, I don’t mind at all joe, I was hoping someone would be able to shed some light on how to improve the noise in the sky, any tips on how you did it? I’ve only started using photoshop about 3 weeks ago so its new to me and I’m trying to learn how best to use it.

Have you tried using a layer to preserve the sky? Make IR changes mainly to the the b/g layer. Might be a start…

Glad to help Sharon. I have Photoshop CS3 Extended & rarely use it for noise reduction. For your pic. I used Noisware Community Edition which you can download for free from http://www.imagenomic.com/nwsa.aspx. Search the downloads & you will see the free “Noiseware Community Edition Standalone”. I find it brilliant as when you import your pic. it recognises the noise levels, click on “go” & noise disappears in seconds. Click on the pic. to see the original noise, unclick, no noise. P.S. dont forget to save the image. It will be saved in your folder as

filtered. You should give it a try. Cheers, Joe.
