    C&C welcomed.

Hi Paul, that is a fantastic location. I think that the first image will work in B&W or duplex. the colour is not too impressiv, the greens dont add to the image. The composition of the building is the spot and you will bring that out with reducing all distraction like colour. would love to see it converted. make sure that you try different colour filters because the results will be very different.

    Cheers Madeleine

PS: whatever you used (lightroom or ps…) make sure that you don’t get this brighter lines around every form! it is distracting.

Like Madeline said, the second is the better of the two.

Also, they look like they have been sharpened a little too much. Maybe ease back on this a little.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I had a feeling I might have overcooked the sharpening a bit. Sharpening is something I normally don’t bother with, but I wasn’t happy with the photo as it was out of the camera. I’m not getting consistently well-focussed results with this camera, but at 1/450th, I can’t really blame camera shake for this one*. Maybe it’s the electronic viewfinder, or maybe it’s just me. I’ve brought my old film SLR out of retirement to use as a backup backup for a number of reasons, crisp focussing in the viewfinder being one of them.

*For others I can, and I need to be more disciplined about using my tripod.

(Ignoramus alert!) Madeleine, what do you mean by “duplex” – is that similar to B&W except the W is a different colour?
