They were taken handheld with EOS 40D, EF-S 60mm, stacked 12mm & 25mm extension tubes and Closeup lense 250D. That combination gives almost x2 magnification. So no need to crop. :wink:

Excellent work David, detail is great. I am glad you posted your setup as I was thinking “where the hell am I going wrong with my 60mm?”.
I see from your exif data that your flash fired, was this the pop-up onboard or off camera?……..Mikka

I used th MR-14 Ringlite flash. It makes a world of difference once you get used to setting it up properly.

Brilliant set, what on earth are they? I love the “knees” on the fly :)

They are called, I believe… Dascillidae – Soft-bodied Plant Beetle
