Glendalough .. through the mist
-
Mr.HParticipant
Made my way to Glendalough last weekend with the anticipation of a little hanging mist…. and was confronted with a thick fog. Whilst waiting for a clearance i focused on trying to capture the atmosphere as best I could…
It took an hour for things to clear sufficiently to get the shot I went for. Even then it was a little early as the sun hadn’t quite made it over the hills behind me…. so light was a lttle flat. And then the wind got up and the mist and mirror’d surface was gone within seconds…
Alan RossiterParticipantI think you did very well with both of these Gary. The reflection and fog did you great favours too. I’m looking at these on my laptop that isn’t calibrated but from this I’d be inclined to nudge the saturation up a little, maybe contrast oo but only a little.
Alan
SteveDParticipantI was all set to say that number 1 is great, but you need to increase the contrast and saturation, when I saw that Alan had gotten there first.
So consider his motion seconded!
Mr.HParticipantThanks Steve & Alan… I’m always wary of overdoing it on the first pass, but will go back and have a play with some sliders based on your feedback.
Cheers
Gary
G-KennyParticipantguthrijParticipantTwo nice shots especially No. 2 but they both need a bit of lift in PS.
Cheers, John
DeeboParticipantNice shots and much better on my work monitor. Seen them yesterday at home on the laptop but not as nice as they are now.
Up the sats and contrast and they will be even betterDee
Mr.HParticipantThanks all for the feedback .. much approeciated. And good to see you’re all telling me the same! I’ll try a re-edit on these and repost later in the week.
Gary
Mr.HParticipantOK heres a second pass at the first shot..Saturation & Contrast upped and a little extra sharpening at this size. I think it looks better so thanks for your suggestions.
I’m struggling to get the second shot looking natural with more oomph, but will persevere.
