Really like the composition in this, one of the best I’ve seen in a while.
There’s definitely a colour cast though, magenta more so than yellow.
It’s muted the grassy greens and there’s no real contrast between some of the reds and greens on display.
There’s a nice mood to it due to the muted colours and the warm cast, but I’d prefer to see it more vibrant and lush…I think.
Must faff ;)
A quick edit, approved for public consumption by the man himself.
Looking at it now on this monitor it’s a bit too light, but you get the idea.
Not much tweeking at all, just a bluey greeny colour fill layer set to overlay or screen (can’t remember)….green will counterbalance the magenta cast, and a bit of blue will give some colour to the water. Duplicated the original image layer, inverted, tuned out all the colour and set to soft light at about 40%…this will bring out some shadow detail (too much and everything goes bluaaargh). Duplicated the image layer again and placed that on top and set to overlay at about 60%, adds a bit of contrast/vibrancy. Added the colour fill layer on top of that. This isn’t better than Steve’s, it’s not meant to be, it’s just a variation to show how you can change the mood of an image with some selective tweeking. As I said, it’s probably a bit over light as I worked on it on a laptop monitor I don’t usually use. Anyways.
Thanks very much for the kind comments everyone, I’m glad you enjoyed the image.
Thanks especially to Mick for having a go at an edit. A nice example of how playing with fill layers and blending modes can produce some interesting results.
