Glenoe Waterfall is a very difficult waterfall to photograph. I have tried several times, and failed! The main problems are dealing with contrast and colour.
The waterfall itself will always be very bright in relation to the rest of the scene, and you must be very careful not to overexpose the image. To add to this, there is light spilling through the trees which tends to ‘bleed’ into your composition. This image required substantial burning in order to counteract said problem.
The second problem is colour. Any digital camera I have ever owned has problems capturing good greens. This waterfall is surrounded on 3 sides by high walls of green foliage, and setting the correct white balance was challenging. I settled for a custom reading off one of the white areas in the foreground water.
However, I am now happy that I have captured the waterfall to the best of my ability, and look forward to your feedback.
