Hey Fresh,
I like what you have done with these two images, thumbs up!! :)If i was to give any critique it would be that i would bring Ali closer to the camera and allow some seperation between the wall and Ali,maybe its me but the lovely shadows that are cast from your lighting set-up seem to flatten out alongside Ali giving a 2-D effect. This shot has beautiful tones and it kinda looks xprocessed(maybe-jeans look that way)?
All in all its full of impact and the model engages well with you.The second shot is what i would love to achieve with low -key,would you be a star and tell us your light set-up? (Me thinks a single light source with a snoot?
BenfreshphotoParticipant”if one light was good enough for god its good enough for me lol” mmmm who said that !
Off course i’ll share, no snoot though, not directly overhead either, so before i answer have a go urself get ur thinkin cap on.
I will tell u but have a guess first.
By the way its shot on a white colorama, now that should help lol.and Ben closer to the camera would loose the texture of the wall, whole shot would loose impact without the texture, prefer to put up with the shado, surprised you seen anything with those eyes stairing at u !!!
Ps I love ur kids shots on ur site EXCELLENT !
AnonymousParticipantmmm, would it be a unit at 45 degrees with honeycomb? :? or shot through a scrim with heavy type diffusion material, either way its a great effect. Would having shot from the side rather than front on have helped with the falling shadows? (First Pose) Anyways the shot has IMPACT and everything else is really subjective to individual taste i guess.. Thnx for comments re:website. Hope to see more of your work in here!
Ben 8)AliParticipanthehe :) You’re going to kill me for posting this Gerry but i love this one.
freshphotoParticipantAli: I dont remember shooting that little red x lol (hate that)
Ben ur on the ball honeycomb inside a medium reflector. Hate snoots always feel they highlight the ring of the flash.
:DSwordieMemberI love the first one, Gerry.
Dramatic colours, textured background – great stuff.
The second one is a bit too “cool” and probably too sophiticated for my liking!AliParticipantfreshphotoParticipantfreshphotoParticipantAnonymousParticipantwowzer..Ali you look really different here, the make up is very cool and mod! Am i gone mad or has this been xprocessed? Well done to both you and Gerry on a great shoot, certainly does it for me! :)
Ben 8)
BenMarkKeymasterReally love the look Ali.
Freshphoto I’m envious of the job you’ve done here. Great use of matching colour.
Background texture really works well. Can’t fault the work.

ciaranParticipantCracking shots. Normally I’m not a big fan of X-processed shots, but these really do work. They stink of class really, well lit, exposed, composed and a great deal of thought into the hair make up and pose. The second moody shot doesn’t work as well for me – overall it’s a little dark and Ali looks lost in the frame.
Not Pete the blokeParticipantFunny, I liked number 2 the best – something about it really appeals! Very 3 dimensional feel to it, love the flowing hair and the dress. Great shot.

We’ll get around to agreeing on something one of these days Ross
