lousyParticipantNice sharp set of images.
# 6 with the diagonal framed shot is the one for me.Pat
BrickeeParticipantkenmurphyParticipantGood sharp images. however you need to work on your DOF to truly make the images realy stand out .
Sgt_MajorMembermarkcapilitanParticipantSharp (except no.1) nice light. Good job…I found karting to be extremely hard to shoot, they’re so small & fast!! DOF is fine IMO, just need bigger lens (maybe) and corner without a barrier in the background, then they’ll stand out more….nothing you could do about that.
Sgt_MajorMemberwas using my sigma 50-500mm, but they were quite close to me at this corner, so no need to zoom in that much.
Have another 377 raw files to process yet :D
markcapilitanParticipantsigma 50-500mm
that’d explain it…300/400/500mm at F4 would make them stand out slightly more. But that’s a (good) problem with karting, you can stand so close and go anywhere even run across the track during the racing… it’s great that way!!
Sgt_MajorMemberpaulParticipantYou might get a better effect shooting f/5.6 or lower (f/3.5) to get much more of a bokeh effect.
kenmurphyParticipantI was going to ask what lens you were using, already answered.
A 70-200 f2.8 lens would be a better option for the carts, the lens it’s self lends to a shorter DOF than the 50 -500 does.
Sgt_MajorMemberI’m going again in 2 weeks, so forgive me if Im asking silly q’s, but are you guys saying I have too much in focus? That I could do with a narrowed dof?
Cheers
kenmurphyParticipanthave a look at your metering points, maybe there is too much metering going on in the frane (metering everything). I dont know if you are using spot metering? if not give it a go. It will select the center of the cart and driver and narrow the dof of the rest of the frame.
Sgt_MajorMembermarkcapilitanParticipantShoot manual, and you dont have to worry about all that metering (once you get the correct exposure). You can be on f4 or whatever constantly – as long as the light is the same, as in the karting stuff.
