Nice Goldfinch shot. My favourite garden bird. I can never get a decent shot of them… way too jumpy.

Good shots. The goldfinch is very nice. Is he chewing on a dandelion seed?

Thanks, they’re my favourite too, closely followed by Bullfinches  There was a pair feeding on dandelions in my neighbours garden, and they are very skittish indeed!

Thery’re a great bird and this is a fairly reasonable shot, just a couple of things and i know wildlife photography is split second stuff and you usually rely on alot of luck really and you take the conditions your given. I find the background very distracting, it was shot in bright sunlight and there are alot of high lights in it, there seems to be a bit of motion blur around the beak. I think if you had shot it with a wide open aperature to reduce the dept of field it would blur out the background a bit more, it would also have increased the shutter speed and may have removed the motion blur on the beak. I’d also try cropping it a bit more. Maybe a bit of guassian blur in the background and foreground with photoshop would help.
Hope i didn’t offend, you can get your own back on me when i actually manage to get a pic up :)
