Golf is a sport right!

I took these at the Irish Open recently. I work in Adare Manor, so had more access than most. These are just a sample six from the few days. I’ve not really tried photographing sports before, so this is a first for me. Although I realise it mightn’t be as challenging as shooting a fast moving car or horsies…oh wait, I have shot horse racing….I’m a liar :)

I had to wait for the right time (around 5pm) to take this shot as there were too many shadows being cast from various places the whole day before that

Some player or other crossing the bridge at the 18th green

I was trying a lot to get a shot like this, a player with his score on the big board in the background. McIlroy had just putted for a birdie on the 18th.

Padraig Harrington getting ready to line up a putt on the 18th

Harrington acknowledges the crowd after putting in on the 18th

Some other player or other lining up a putt on the 15th, with the Manor in the background

Jody apparently it is a sport if you can afford it (I know I pay my son’s fees).
A very niice set especially the bridge (I wopuld have added a famous golfers name here ) The first Padraig shot and the Black and Whiter.
I liked what you were trying to do with the Harrington shot but I think if you had got him sharper and the name blurred (DOF the other way round) it would have had a greater impact IMHO.

Some nice shots. A few of them are a tad soft like the McIlroy shot and the sepia shot of Harrington. I was meant to be photographing the event but had too much of a busy weekend to shoot there.

    in an offical capacity kensutz?
I was just shooting for the staff of the Manor, I’ll put together a slideshow with music for our next meeting
The Harrington Sepia and McIlroy shot were taken with my poor sigma 70-200mm lens, I always find it hard to get a sharp focus out of it.
The others were taken with an L series 24-70, there’s an obvious difference

Yes Jody, I was meant to be photographing for a few papers but a bigger job was needed at the time.
