MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipant
Good Morning: This is one of my favorite images, i took it half year ago with my old canon 20 D and the standard 18-55mm EF-S Lens, few days before she died (;.
I looove sun rays. it is a big noisy because i took it with iso 800, handheld. 2nd: 0,5s 3rd: long term exposure of 30 s. All images captured on the same day. cheers Madeleine1

LudaParticipantHow do you do it? :(
What steps would you normally take in post-processing, and how long would this take?
As I mentioned before my colour processing is horrible. I always tend to overcook it or something because, straight from camera, they’re always kinda dull.
These, as always, are loverly.MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantHi Lude, these 4 images or no HDRs.
first of all:
– it is the decision when to press the button and when not. i pay alot of my attention to analyze the light conditions and i am focusing on “no harsh contrast light”.
– be as often as you can in nature :D
– for processing of hdr or panoramas …usually about 1-3 hours. i work with 16bit, raw…huge files and that slows it down as well
– every image needs a different treatment / i try out different options, hdr or no hdr,just ps adjustment or combined until i find my image in it
– 70 % of my attiontion goes to the “rescue programm of pixels”, so whenever i move a curve, i really check which pixels i killed and which i starts to bloom.
– the composition of images are based on my intiution and artist soul ( ;Was that helpfull?
Cheers
MadeleineBroadford1ParticipantIt is a treat to see the results of an artist at work – truly beautiful shots. :) :) :)
alancotterParticipantBeautiful AGAIN ;-) though at this stage i expect nothing less when i open a thread from Miss/Mrs Webber…
So, with me and color, my photoshopping isn’t that good, so i tend to stay away from it rather than screw up my images completely.. Could also be a photoshop color confidence thing, one i’ll have to overcome.. But it is really easy to mess up in PS..
LudaParticipantThanks Madeline.
I have ordered a book on colour processing and I intend to read it (I have the attention span and patience of a 4-year old). I always rush my processing.
I know about shooting when the light is good, but my results don’t seem to look as nice on the computer as they seem to on the preview screen of the camera. As a result I have stuck to black and white for a while now (I’m better with shapes than colours).
Again, nice to see your shots.MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantbroadford, nice flowers ( ;
Alan: yes Photoshop is amazing, the secret is the combination of functions and you always have to control your attitude otherwise you end up with mutants. Thank you Dear.
Luda: well we had a long thread about the bad word “manipulation”. I think that every photographer has to learn and study different tools and software to overcome the first MAINmanipulation of the image…and this is the camera. no camera on earth can focus all different contrast areas and the photographer has to tell it, which one should be the priority. You end up with a beautiful well balanced foreground and a pure white sky or the other way around.
HDR is one thing, filters another, perfect exposures another one….Photoshop can rescue a lot. I never use the camera functions – that means, that my images look quite horrible on the camera screen but so i make sure not to kill parts because i chose to much contrast or what ever.
For colours….a good screen setup is needed, polarizer is the best friend of colours AND the shooting time ( ;
Cheers
