Good Price or not ?

Hi everyone,

A friend is looking to buy a second hand Canon 70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM lense. He wants to buy local and has got two offers of €520 and €490. I think he said they are both in perfect condition. The lense for €520 has been used once or twice and the lense for €490 has been used 4 or 5 times.

Can you tell me if these prices are good or not ?

Hi – I’d be getting it BRAND new for €502 on Pixmania if i was him.

I know nothing about Canon lenses but the advice to buy from Pixmania for a few quid of a difference might not be the best advice (no offence Brendan). With the local ones he can check the quality of the lens and to make sure it works. With Pixmania you still have to pay postage and if something does go wrong with warranty Pixmania have been reputed to be difficult to contact (based on topics here in the past, not personal experience).
Just another angle to consider, I suppose.

As irishwonkafan said, my friend would rather buy local as he doesn’t like buying online . Prefers to check it out first.

Anyone know if above prices are any good ?

Hi guys,

My 2 cents, I bought a camera from pixmania before x-mass and I’d never go next to near them again, the camera I bought came with a french manual, I e-mailed them straight away and the reply was “read terms and conditions, some cameras don’t come with english manuals”, I ended up downloading from the internet, if I were buying second hand I wouldn’t expect to get a manual, it’d just be a bonus but to buy new and to be fobbed off, never again, stick local if you can at all and stay away from pixmania.
