Got soaked.

SeaviewParticipant
Went for spin last evening to see what conditions were like at high tide, parked up the car and watched some nice waves breaking over the sea wall and reckoned it was worth getting a little wet for (as it was raining at the time). Got all dressed up and grabbed the camera and headed out. I watched the action for a while to find a spot near the wall which I was safe to stand next to and avoid getting a soaking. I was there for a while enjoying myself and not getting too wet, I captured the first image below which was quite pleased with. Should have gone home at that stage but I’m always hoping for the next one to be bigger and better. Then bang, mother of all waves broke over the wall where I was standing and soaked me from head to toe. :( I even managed to hit the shutter :D see second image below. Run to the car, dry the camera and lens and strip to boxers, no damage to the camera at least. Well I’m sure this has happened to others so if you have a similar stories lets be having them. :D :D
Have a nice weekend.
Dave.
AnonymousParticipantIt happened to me also last year. I went to photograph the waves breaking at a small cove & I went in behind
a fairly sheltered spot to change the lens & all of a sudden, a crashing wave found me in the corner but luckily
no damage was done but I didn’t hang around either. Lesson learned, take nothing for granted with Mother Nature!miki gParticipant:lol:  Fair play to you Dave for getting “out there”. I was in Ring and went walking out on the sand bank (Cunnigar I think they call it) and the tide came in behind me. Luckily I had time to get out intact (except being wet from the waist down). Just goes to show that a bit of research about an area is always a good idea before you venture out into the unknown.
Also, Ireland got 2 mentions in the top deadliest places for tourists to visit recently, so a timely reminder to be careful.

John you’re very lucky considering you were changing the lens. You do get some shock though, mother nature certainly can surprise you if your not careful.
