Grafton Street
-
nfl-fanParticipant
Inspired by a shot taken by Herr Sieben this time last year.
Mine’s a different take on a similar scene… but not in the same ballpark as Herr Sieben’s which was way better.
mgstParticipantI like it John the rush of people the light and the wet ground all add atmosphere well taken.
Mick
PD_BARBSParticipantI think this is an amazing shot, excellent job. It really sums up Grafton street to me. I really like the fact the guy with the sign is stationary.
Really nicely done.
MallachtParticipantI haven’t seen Herr Sieben’s but if it’s a lot better than your one it must be out of this world cause your shot is really awesome, well done
PixelleMemberGreat Christmas atmosphere here. I really like the effect of the wet cobbles.
wirepicParticipantDeeboParticipantLovely shot and the still man on the right really makes this shot.
Nice one
deeAlan RossiterParticipantI’d agree with the above – great image, the movement suits the atmosphere, etc. His lordships image I assume was taken up one of them step ladder attachments as it was from a higher perspective. The muted colour – design or factual representation? My expectation of this sort of scene is colour but I can understand muting too.
Alan
jb7ParticipantI was there-
just behind you to the right,
and up a bit-
You might have just made it into the bottom of the frame-Sheltered from the throng by an armoured car collecting the cash from HMV-
I do remember it was a lot more packed than this-camera up the top of the tripod-
no steps this time-
your Choclatyness-The muted colour, to refer directly to the previous comment-
is it cooler toned?I shot my one on Daylight film, just as the light was going from the sky,
so the artificial light is quite warm-
the future’s so bright,
you gotta wear shades-
sorta thing-Whereas this year, your picture doesn’t exactly fill me with as much cheer,
if you know what I’m trying to say-
and mostly down to your colour palette-Good to see you went back there-
thanks for the mention-j
SetantaBParticipantshutterbugParticipantWhat sort of settings would you have used? I like the ghostly disappearance of the
people.plainoldmeMembernfl-fanParticipantThanks everyone for your comments.
ShutterBug
The shot was taken in low light, thus requiring a slow shutter speed, and this creates the ghostly disappearance you mention (ISO 100, F16, 5 seconds)
His Lordship and Chocolaty
All the originals were extremley warm looking, as JB says “artificial light is quite warm”, a bit too warm for my taste.
It had rained, it was a little murky and there was an element of sadness about the bloke holding the sign, so I did play about with the White Balance and Saturation.
JB’s was bursting with lovely colours so in an effort to try and do something the slightest bit different I made mine a bit more murky.
That was me behind the armoured car. Why not say hello Herr Sieben?
Thanks again.
