Very nice John, on my monitor it looks like the sky is blown, no detail at all. I think the autumn colours and long winter shadows work really well together, I like the portrait format also.

Thanks for the feedback Dave. I bracketted for exposure 2 stops up and down and have a sky with far more highlight control but it just doesnt look right the light on the leafs and the sky exposed 2 down just dont marry well. myself and a few of the lads had a chat about this whole whats acceptable regards blown highlights when shooting straight into the sun and at the end of the day even the naked eye doesnt gather detail when looking at the sun (not that I recommend looking into the sun :-) ) and I would rather end up with an image that has the right atmosphere and more realistic representation than a tecnically perfect image that looks forced or contrived. Now the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is to end up with both ;-). Thanks again for the comment

Looks good to me, the bit of sky that is showing is minimal and blown or not Id say it works. Doesnt actually look blown out on my screen? Nice autumn scene
