Greetings from Midleton

Well hello to one and all. I’ve only just received word of this forum from BertieWooster (whom I know as Arrjay from a previous incarnation) so my thanks to him for pointing me in this direction. I have no idea who is on here although I have seen two familiar names on here in the five minutes that I’ve been here – so a particular hello to Ali, Ciaran and GCP and of course also to fellow Corkonians. It’s been a bit of a quiet existence out here in East Cork (photographically speaking) so I’m looking forward to participating here as actively as time will allow.

I’ve been doing photography as a hobby for the past 20 years or so and still have so much to learn and there is plenty of room for improvement in my work. Most of that time has been doing landscape and what would generally be classed as pictorial photography. Latterly I’ve started doing some portraiture/model photography and also have an interest in doing architectural photography and am hoping to find lots of inspiration and knowledge here.

Why the alias “ecp”? Well, I wanted to avoid using my name but at the same time wanted to use something that I could be identified with so I hit upon East Cork Photography – but that’s a little long winded, so I opted for ecp. It’s only after I signed up that I realised Gerry was here under gcp (sorry Gerry!).

I very much approve of your Kylie concert photographs on PBase :D

    Thanks for the welcome Mark.

I very nearly got chucked out of the gig  after being found out with “professional equipment” I had to re-format the card while one of the security guys who knew about these things observed to ensure I wasn’t pulling any stunts. Of course, re-formatting the card only erases the FAT so it wasn’t to difficult to recover the images once I got back home. I had not intention of making any financial gain from the images – for me it was just a challenge which I felt like taking on :D

    ECP,
you’re most welcome. I just got here last week after hearing about it from Helen Burke and I have told a few to look in here and see what they thought. Enjoy the forum and its looking really good here. No doubt some of the old faces will be along soon

Looks like there’s a mass exodus coming across from IMAPP. Welcome to the forum “ecp” (it’s going to be strange calling you that!)

    Thanks Ciaran.

Incidentally, feel free to use “Thorsten” instead of “ecp” – not a problem. I just decided I’d like to use something a little bit different as an id for a change.

Delighted to see you joined. I’d have great hopes that I’ll be discussing many a topic with you here over the coming months.

Incidentally, greatto see a photography forum with some activity in the summer. Most of the ones I was a member of seemed to go quiet in summer and had their best times in the winter months.

Hi Ali – I’ll see what I can do! Glad you got my email – thought it had gone into the ether never to be seen again! :D

Sure looks that way. Nice to see some activity too rather than things just stagnating.
