Grey Squirrel

NikonfanParticipant
Well I eventually paid a quick visit to the Phoenix park in Dublin…Light was awful but was great to see so many deer…The only photo that I came away with was this one of a grey squirrel.
300mm F4 1/160 ISO 1600
SeaviewParticipantVery nice Declan, considering the light was poor and you shot at ISO 1600 I think the result is first class. Well captured.
Dave.
sndipoMemberThis is great, especially when you know that shooting conditions were harsh. I really like this one, sharp and great expression on the squirrel; DOF is just right, I like that his tail is still clearly distinguishable, sometimes the background can be just a big blur but this is great! Then composition and the light.. If that’s your only shot of the day, I’d be very very pleased with it at least :D
Is there meant to be some other border on the image? I can see darker one on the bottom and right hand side, but nowhere else..or is it just the way it uploads?
NikonfanParticipantHi Dave and Vee,,many thanks to you both for taking the time to view and comment. It’s appreciated.Yes I only stayed around for about an hour or maybe a little more as the light was nearly gone by 3pm…Was even surprised I managed this one under the canopy of trees too.
Vee I think that border was meant to have a thin dark line all around the photo too, but not sure what happened
Thanks again,
DecPadraigParticipantGreat shot Dec. The subject has a nice pose and the tree frames it perfectly. Just one decent shot is is my goal from a day out. I find anything else unrealistic especially when it comes to wildlife. Nothing wrong with ramping up the ISO when required either. Might I suggest a slight levels adjustment? Bring the black slider right to about 8 or 10. Its slightly flat due to the poor light.
NikonfanParticipantHi Padraig. Thanks a million for taking the time.. I will take another look at the levels. If I remember correctly the levels adjustments that I made were blacks to 5 or 6 only I think.
