This is am image shot at Hafrsfjord in Stavanger, Norway.
It is the site where the final battle for the unification of the kingdom of Norway was fought between three kings.
The monument was designed by Fritz Røed and the three swords symbolise peace and unification.
The largest sword belongs to King Harald Hårfagre who inevitably won the battle which united Norway into one kingdom in 872 A.D.
Ive been living with my girlfriend in Norway for the past month and this was the number one attraction ive wanted to see in this country.
cool bit of history there. The image loks interesting but its difficult to get scale from this and also, the top of the image (the blue sky) is a bit bare. Nice image but I’d love to see a larger version.
Thanks for the reply, Ill upload a different shot from there tomorrow, which will give you a better idea of scale. As for the sky, I went two days before this was taken and it was so overcast so i thought i would take full advantage of the weather for the day and include as much of the beautiful sky as possible. I know its hard to concieve but this place may actually have worse weather than Ireland.
Nice story and good colour, but I think your shot has the sky too dominant, which makes the interesting swords very much a minor part of the pic. Perhaps a severe crop of the lower half may help. For me, I would have aimed to get the horizon on a lower third and the swords on the left third.
