Here’s an image of my father in law. Two images used to create this
C&C welcome
jodal1975Participantthats good stuff alan !!…very original and great processing ….you obviously know alot more about photoshop than me !!
alanhunt99ParticipantfguihenParticipantI usually hate visibly photoshopped images, or images shopped to look shopped, but this really works. Hands over the face give an impression of sadness, loss of hope, and the expression of the face that you expect to be under the hands echos that, giving a very emotional image.
Great job.
alanhunt99ParticipantThanks a lot. This is the first image I have ever photoshoped like this and not something I would usually think about. I knew before I took the images what I was expecting to achieve and knew the look I was going for. I couldn’t have been happier with the end result. Its an image that I think could tell a story. The blending of the images couldn’t have worked out any better. Very simple concept with very little effort. Doing things like this makes me think outside the box and makes the learning of photography and imagery more interesting.
I appreciate you comments.Hexar84Participantalanhunt99Participantmarkst33ParticipantSuper image. Really original and eyecatching. Great processing too. can you provide some steps as to how you achieved this effect ?
Mark S.
alanhunt99ParticipantThanks Mark. It was a pretty simple process really. Took two images one with hands covering face and one with out. Brought both into photoshop and lined up both so the top of the head was the same in both. I then added a b/w layer to make it easier to blend the two layers.
Then I changed the layer blend mode of one to multiply ( I think!). Just played with them all to get the one I liked and the one that suited the image. After that I cloned out the watch. I then adjusted the blacks and whites and cleaned the image Background. That’s about it really.alanhunt99ParticipantMeant to say, image taken at f11, Iso100, 1/160 sec, black background with a hair light at f5.6. Main light straight on at f11
jodal1975ParticipantAlan … Hope you don’t mind … I was sitting around the hse yesterday twiddling my thumbs and decided to give your shot a go . Copied the whole idea .. hands to face’n all ! (Although I left my mine colour…well sort of). Prob use it as a profile pic but that’s about it.hope you don’t mind . They do say imitation is the greatest form of flattery and all that ! :-)
alanhunt99ParticipantGlad you liked the idea and delighted you tried it yourself. You have to immitate others to learn and its a great way to get creative. Would love to see you image.
