Jos25ParticipantIsabellaParticipant
without the title ‘happy’ is not necessarily an emotion i would have put to this image! looks kinda gruesome, maybe its the acid green and dark red. or maybe its that you can’t see the eyes.
Jos25ParticipantPersonally, I think this is a tribute to the innocence and excitement of little boys. I assure you he was very ‘happy’ when I took the shot. Entitled to your own opinion though.
IsabellaParticipanti didn’t mean it in a grumpy way! surprise and interest at the range of human expression and how its read/interpreted! what i mean is that if you didn’t say it i wouldn’t have known and was in no way trying to imply anything else
sirvadMemberwud like to know the reason for the green and red texture added. doesnt really work for me
markclehaneParticipantIt’s certainly an interesting capture and in a strange way I actually like it but what I see is a an image that is verging on disturbing. I wonder if the atmosphere that was present when you took the shot is still associated with this picture in your mind because “Happy” is defintely not the emotion portrayed here in my opinion anyway. That’s not a criticism by the way – just an observation. By the way, am I correct in assuming the “textures” are actually a dirty old pane of glass?
MarkPS. I wonder how this would work in mono!
Jos25ParticipantOK, under the overwhelming odds against me, I concede defeat :D The expression is probably not very ‘happy’ (apologies Isabella  ). The textures are a old pane of glass, stained by the nearby greenery. he was just looking out from a shed and someone threw something at the window, hence his expression. I was wondering if the shot was technically strong, and that’s really why I posted it.
IsabellaParticipanthaha, interesting. dunno what kept you from saying it in the first place but anyway not to worry, interesting to observe that people are better at reading expressions than they are at believing what they are told… i think actually its the nose wrinkling that gives it away imagine the feeling of laughing hysterically, the nose doesn’t do that but it does with disgust or fright… from an evolutionary perspective its fascinating.
as to whether the image is technically good, from the way you’ve presented it (title taken into account) i don’t think it matters too much.. its a bit grainy perhaps, from my point of view, but other than that i can’t offer much
