Hey, I’m after a Haselblad 503cw kit, buying it new is really just too expensive to justify. Any ideas guys?

The 503CW is still pricey coz its the newest. I’ve the 500CM and the 500ELM and they are waay cheaper, was there something on the 503CW that made your gadget senses tingle?

I’m still learning alot about them actually and didn’t realise the 503cw was the newest incarnation. I only do film work so it may not be the wisest choice, I imagine anything in the 500 range would be suitable. If I could get a decent body I would pay top dollar for a good lens, I’ve been eyeing up a 40mm f4, which kinda gets me excited.

If you are into the 40mm then you are probably a landscape photographer, am I right?

If so then I think the 503CW wouldn’t be totally necessary for you as the CW bit is to do with the Winder and to be honest you really dont need the electrical winder. I did have the 40 CF FLE until very recently, I now have the 50 CF FLE instead. Both are fabulous lenses.

I really think you should consider buying a copy of The Hasselblad Manual by Ernst Wildi, the Fourth Edition. Later editions focus on the newer equipment thats crazy money. I’ve a spare copy of it for sale on eBay at the moment, there are no bids on it yet and I could take it down for you. You definitely have the right idea to buy a great lens and a good body. Wildi’s book is fantastic for explaining the different options.

Yeh I’m a landscape photographer alright, the manual sounds interesting, how much were you looking for it? I have seen a used 500c/m body for 400 dollars which seems like a good price and come from a reputable dealer. I may go for that and then it’s a case of getting good quality accessories, I take it most accessories ie. film backs, lenses, lens shades, filter systems are universal for the 500 series?
