HDR means High Dynamic Range and in Photoshop CS2 you can merge many image into one HDR. have a look at the following link

Have a read here http://www.hdrsoft.com/ and have a gander around the examples section.

The Eiffel Tower shot on the first page should explain it to you without having to read a word.

Personally speaking, I would recommend that beginners would be wise to steer clear of HDR.

It’s easy to get carried away with it and the time spent (both bracketing in the field and in post process) might be better spent learning the funamentals of composition and exposure. I think HDR tends to instill bad habits which may be very hard to shake.

There is a place for HDR and I do ocassionally use it myself. But it should perhaps mainly be used to give the camera a helping hand rather than just boosting the deepest shadows into mid-grey.

I agree with Andy on this… get to grips with the fundamentals first instead of allowing HDR to be any sort of starting point.

HDR is fun and given the right shot can produce some amazing effects but as a beginner you shouldn’t lean on it too much.

That being said.. no matter what level you’re at it’s good to be interested and curious about different things… ‘Be a sponge and soak it all in’ :)
