Won Bronze Medal in the Nature Competition Regional Rounds (SACC) for my Image “Head Over Heels” Taken on the Saltee’s last year.
Delighted with the win, as there were very high quality images form many fine Irish Nature Photographers in the competition.
SeaviewParticipantCracking shot John, well deserved the win. You must have been well chuffed when you snapped that. :D :D
Dave.
miki gParticipantshutterbugParticipantExcellent John many congratulations, what a super shot. It was a good year for
Puffins on the Saltees last year! Will certainly be going again this summer.steelydanParticipantThanks everyone, Yes Davy I was chuffed at this snap, while the rest of the guys were watching two fulmars fighting off incoming birds , i concentrated on these two, it was a tight crop and had to back off 10 feet to get them in the frame . But once they started the clicking beaks i was ready, and could not believe it when the top guy just twisted his head and then it was over. It was something that i probably wont witness again, let alone photograph it. I think the position of the birds helped, as normally they are face to face. Lucky and ready i suppose
sndipoMemberWell done, worthy picture for any medal :)
Kind of want to see now what the two first places were like if this came only third
ossie13ParticipantsteelydanParticipantFirst Place was a Kingfisher with 2 minnows in its beak, very nice shot and worthy of Gold, second place was Fungi and that got silver. Its down to the judges on the day, but I am still confident that the same shot might do well in the National Round at the end of February, but in saying that there are quiet a few good nature photographers on Ireland and I am up against the like of Joe Elway and His Bear shots
Judges may see something different and thats what I always aim for, i have hundreds of Puffins posing on a rock.
