Had a shoot yesterday with Tanya – new model signed to assets and looking for headshots – she has THE MOST AMAZING green eyes – I like this one

Feel free to go crazy ;)

I agree, she certainly has beautiful eyes. How much PP have you done as her skin under her right eye looks strange.

i see where you mean – I didn’t do more than clone a bump here and there – i prfer pores than plastic – but it looks like a patch or something ??

Great shot, i would prefer to have more above the eyes than below the neck.
Great skin detail and lovely model with superb eyes

Nice shot Lorraine. Probably only thing I would say is the skin. Pores are GREAT…don’t get me wrong, just seems a bit patchy or something??? Also f/10…I probably would have tried blurring pattern a little bit in background, but lovely shot. I’ve seen other shots of her and sometimes a bit TOO concentrated on eyes with “rabbit in headlights” syndrome, but it works really nice here.

    Cheers everyone .. :)

The crop I’m happy with – its just more hair at the top and I liked the shape of her shoulder and the line of her chin pointing to the bottom corner on the composition

Took this again in the kitchen using SB800 and shoot through umbrella – bought a few random bits of wallpaper to make backrdops wih.. basically stuck on the kitchen wall withy bluetac :) I’ve been looking at the skin and I do see what you mean – I haven;’t had much time to tweak these since saturday and my issue is that it looks weird if I smooth the shadow of her nose too much .. I think I might try and lighten it a little bit .. later of course :)

Any tips on how to work this ??

I like it. But then I’m a fan of most of your work Lo :-)

I think the composition works fine..only thing that would grate me slightly is the wisp of hair partially obscuring her right eye.

I think the background works…and actually that’s a good thrift idea for creating different backgrounds…never thought of that.

Must pop down to my local home decorating store and see what freebies I can snag..

Also probably just a small thing (and probably just me being like this) But I have two screens that I work off, and for both I have to scroll to see the full image, perhaps making the image a little smaller so it’s viewable on the screen without scrolling?

    Ctrl/- will help, Poulet.

True Pixelle, but it’s just easier for everyone if the original image is uploaded smaller. Also it would help the image

I like it too but I don’t like the fact that her amazing eyes are obscured by her hair. I’m surprised expresbro was the only other person to mention that. I also think there’s too much of her arm on show, I’d crop some off the bottom. If you’re happy with the crop as it is, fair enough.

I am surprised you let the hair sit in the way of her eye though.

    Any more?

    I like this Lorraine…

I think the composition is very strong, I like the line formed from her cheek to her jaw and down her shoulder,
I think it makes the picture read very well, sort of cuts it into two diagonials, that and the strongly patterened backgronnd,
give it quite a graphic feel, or something…
I like the colours too, subtle, and I just love that you do all this in your kitchen, it always looks great!

I don’t get how posting a smaller size would help the picture? Isn’t this type of headshot normally printed 8×10 size?

It helps because it would be viewable on the screen without having to scroll. So you don’t have to scroll up and down. It’s like when someone posts up a lovely landscape but posts it 2000 pixels wide.

Robbie – I’ll see you in Atlantic €25 a roll – or you can have my half used one at a discount .. I’ll throw in the bluetac ;)

Steve – i let the hair fall across her eye because thats how it falls :) – seriously, of course i took shots of both profiles, but ultimately for the look over the shoulder I kinda liked the hair – it seemd a bit shy or something to me – i hope that gives you insight into my inner craziness :) what i imagine if not what i can communicate :)

Sinead – glad you like it – Kitchens rock for photography – you can stop and have tea whenever you like :)

Johnny – normally I size for the web at 800 pixels on the long end.. don’t know why i did this one any differently – but point taken ! Wrist slpapped , boittom spanked – I’ll be good :)
