Last 5 days or so a hedgehog has been showing up to and eating the remains of the cat biscuits.
Today he showed up around 2 or 3 and we were surprised as its not often they do at that time of the day. We went down to check on him and see his legs had gotten much worse, we thought he’d hurt it first time we found him but it’d gotten much much worse since then. Its swollen and infected. I ran back inside, grabbed the phone and called the ISPCA who directed me onto the NEAS in Trim. Kevin from there said he’d be out to pick the little guy up tonight. Right now we have him in an Amazon box, eating catfood and drinking water. Little fucker climbed out a while ago, box is twice the height he is, so he cant be that bad. Anyway, heres hoping he’ll be ok.
All taken with my 50mm 1.4. Took some time to get the focus right on the first one but was worth it.
shutterbugParticipantThree lovely shots, I really like the first one. my sister found a baby hedgehog some
time ago he had got stuck in the plastic ring from a 2ltr bottle of milk and it was slowly
strangling him, the vet took him home and is still with him in his garden, so hopefully
your little one will be grand also.miki gParticipantLovely shots. Unusual to find them during the daytime hours. Well done for taking care of him.
edg3ParticipantHes a grand little guy, we’ve been keeping an eye on him. Hoping the guy shows up soon to pick him up.
Ive always preferred animals over people :)We were told he must be in a bad way if hes coming out during the day.
sndipoMemberAww,a definite cute factor here and well done on minding him! Nice captures and the second one is my favourite, it seems like he is looking straight at the camera! :)

He was looking straight at it, keeping an eye on me. I was only a couple foot away from him. He got used to me being around with the camera because I was out nearly every day he was here. At first he used to jump at the sound from the shutter but as he got more used to it that stopped.
