Took quite a few standard shots when up there with the family last week – nothing special. However, decided to see what I could conjure up something in Photoshop. Went with some selective colouring to add some foreboding tones, given the history of the place…

Sorry.. but the processing for me is a serious no-no. It’s totally and utterly un-natural… especially the red in the top left corner.

Thanks for your reply. Of course, it’s deliberately OTT, the shot is rather bland otherwise. Here’s is a more conventional view:

Do some dodging to the convention view.

Particularly the sky and the grass.

Thanks Shiny. This image is a from two layers – a high pass filter of the foregound (maybe a bit too much) and shadow & highlights mod of the sky. Flattened and given a midtone lift in Levels. Shot was taken with a ND2 grad filter. I think you might be right in bringing back the f/g. I also notice that this web image is quite soft – image was processed in CS2 in sRGB, resized before USM.

I like the photo, the foreground works for me and if the sky was black / dark gray it could make the HFC pop a little more when viewing the picture.

Thanks Jonathan. Seems that the sky is the contentious thing – so must have a go at changing it.
