Hello…

np72Participant
Just a quick introduction. I’ve been taking photo’s on and off for about 15 years, only on an ameteur basis, though only once in a while lately, just starting to get back to it now.
Nigel.
cathaldParticipantnp72ParticipantThanks for that Cathal. I had a quick look through earlier, and the site looks good and people are generally friendly from what I’ve seen, and looking through some photo’s people have posted, I think I need to start practicing again

That’s only to lull you into a false sense of security. They’ll be eyeing you up until your guard is down.
Welcome aboard, another Yellow Belly,David
np72ParticipantThanks for the welcome, Gerry and David.
By the way David, who are the “They” you refer to? Is there something in particular I should watch out for?? As for being a Yellow Belly, is that by birth or can blow-ins claim that too? :)
Nigel.

I won’t mention any names, the fun is in the finding out but if you read some of the threads you’ll see some regular names. All in the best possible taste, of course.
Are you a Wexican? Living in Wexford but supporting a blue Arnott’s jersey? Don’t you know that you’ll always be a blow in until at least three or four generations of your family occupy a plot of the local graveyard and even then there will always be people who will remind you of where your people were when Cromwell knocked on the gates of Wexford. Another common one is that you’ll be reminded that you are on the wrong side of the parish boundary when it comes to handing out any goodies.
Keep on snapping,David
np72ParticipantI’m safe on the Arnotts jersey, as I’d never wear anything even close to a football/hurling/rugby/soccer jersey, I’m not into that kind of thing, all I’ll say is, I’m Irish and thats good enough. Does having a Wicklow grandparent count as being almost local to North Wicklow??

Nothing wrong with being a Dub if that’s where you’re from. If anyone had a problem with blow-ins we would all still be living in Denmark or Norway or even trace back to probably Africa. Hell, some of us would never have fallen out of the trees if people were really sensitive about it. I tend to wear the Wexford jersey on occasions but I’m not a big sports fan myself. Watch the important matches, that’s about it. I think it’s time to design a Wexican jumper :D Colours anyone? My mother was a local here and my father was a Dub so I could, I suppose, fly both flags but I do consider myself local.
David
np72ParticipantTo be honest, I’d never heard of a Wexican til you mentioned it David :) As for colours for a jumper, well, if you took a very dark purple, and a very dark blue, would they match? With the way the weather is today, Norway/Denmark couldn’t be much worse, so where do I apply for the ticket for Copenhagen? Or should I skip that and head for a quiet island off Africa somewhere?
thedarkroomParticipantI’ve always had a yearning to go to Zanzibar but Mauritius would be attractive too. Zanzibar would be a bit more rugged and less influenced by tourism and the development it always attracts, well worth a trip with a camera, I think. Someday :!:
