Hi there – joined today after buying a Canon 550D earlier in the week.I was really keen on photography years back, when we still used film (ha!), and I lived in the UK, but holidayed in Ireland. Now I live in Ireland (almost 13 years) and have gone digital. I’m still trying to remember everything I used to know about photography – the interim years between my film Canon and this latest one were covered by a Kodak Z730 – nice little non-SLR camera that does a lot more than point and shoot – but is in no way comparable to my new 550D.
I picked up a decent tripod at the same time as the camera, and am now in deep discussion with the husband as to whether we should get another 550D body, so we can both take pics at the same time, or invest in a 10-22mm lens for the body we already have, and learn to play nicely and share! I’m leaning very hard towards the 10-22mm lens – happy enough to use the Kodak when he wants to play with the Canon. My old 75-300mm lens works with the Canon, so with that and the 18-55mm that came with it, we’re more or less covered – but I am totally lusting after the 10-22mm since my main focus (no pun intended) is on landscapes.
Anyway, that’s me – I feel like a beginner again, but hopefully will get up to speed pretty quickly – too shy to post any pics as yet, but as soon as I take one I’m actually happy with, you’ll be the first to see it (brace yourselves!). Love the site, have spent a lot of time today looking through all the posts – there’s loads of talented people here (daunting) – hopefuly I’ll get to know you :) So – hello!
