Hello From Newfoundland, Canada, eh!

Hi folks.
My name is Jamie and I’m from Newfoundland Canada, of Irish roots.
I’m somewhat of a Noob to photography, but a serious student of the hobby. We’ve booked our first trip to Ireland and I’m looking forward to many memorable shots.
I know the light and weather conditions can change in minutes in Ireland, probably same as here in Newfoundland to be honest; clear & calm to rain and wind with harsh to soft lighting, all within 30 minutes or so.
Here, if I miss proper settings for a shot, I can go back tomorrow, in a couple of days, next week or month, no big deal. However, Ireland isn’t that easy so I’m looking forward to picking up some tips to capture those fantastic shades of green, and the solemn effects the mists and fog throw on the landscapes.
From what I’ve seen and have learned so far, I need to get used to travelling with and using a tripod, as it’s nearly impossible to get the colour saturation I’m looking for. Just probably not possible to handle proper exposures without some serious noise or hand shake.
So, thanks to those who provide this forum and for having me on board. I’m looking forward to my trip and to learning more and more about this wonderful hobby.

MarkshutterbugParticipantWelcome Jamie, hope you enjoy the site and your impending visit to
Ireland, as well as a tripod rain gear, sun cream and insect repellant :lol:SeaRunMemberThanks for the warm welcome folks.
Mark, location I don’t think will be a problem, with a walk through The Burren, some hiking around Dingle (and other towns) and around the Cliffs of Mohr with a drive around the Ring of Kerry, I don’t think a nice selection of photo-ops will be a problem, he he.
Shutterbug, like I said, I believe the climate there is similar to ours where even a 2 hour hike may require packing for at least 3 seasons.
Again, thanks folks.
Jamie
