Hello – I’m new

Hi all
Just thought I’d pop in and say hello. I’m very new, both to the site and to photography.
I’ve had an interest for about 30yrs, but only ever had a point and click, now I have a *posh*
point and click.I’m a little embarrassed by the fact that everyone has lenses and filters etc, I’ve got a
Canon PowerShot SX130IS…You can’t add anything or take anything away  :oops:All that being said, it’s useful to me for learning on, up until recently I hadn’t a clue what
apperture, depth of field or any of the other photographers terms mean. I’m learning slowly
what they mean and more importantly, what they do!!I’m also trying to learn photoshop, that’s going well!! :?
Is there any point in my putting up pics here or should I start an offsite account and link to it?
As previously stated, I’m new, haven’t got an all bells and whistles camera, can’t add filters/
lenses to the camera and can do little more than crop in ps plus I haven’t learned all the *lingo*
yet. lol But, I would like to know where I’m going wrong and what I can do to improve. One thing I DO have is a passion for photograpy :D
Sorry this went on a bit
pelagicMemberHi Sharon,
Welcome aboard.
I just took a quick look at the features on your “Posh p&s”. Think of it as an entry level camera with only Liveview and an all purpose walk-about lens (28-300mm is the darling Nikon right now). You have all the important controls. AP, SP and manual modes with exposure comp and adjustable ISO. You chose really well and when you want a DSLR, I’d bet you’ll skip right over the entry level and go to the mid-level or above.
Now that’s enough camera envy and apologies. Post up some of your images. Read the instructions on how to post images. Basically you need to copy them up to one of the free image sites and then link the image to a PI posting.
Ask lots of questions. PI is a huge pool of knowledge
Enjoy,
shutterbugParticipantHey Sharon, welcome to the site and YES get posting, doesnt matter what camera you have
the most important thing is the end result and enjoying what you do.I have an all singing all dancing camera and lens and I still put up dodgy photos
