I have just received my first Digital SLR a Sony Alpha 100 I am so excited, but I havent a clue as to what lenses I will need. I have a 28-80mm and thats it. What are the basics to get me started? I like to shoot wildlife, scenery, macro mostly, I would appreciate any guidance anyone can offer.

Shutterbug, that is one seriously good camera.
For wildlife you will need something a lot longer than the 28-80. I would suggest something in the 70-300 range to start with.
For scenery you will need something in the 17/18-50/70 range.
For macro you will need a dedicated macro lens maybe 50mm / 100 or 105mm / or 150 or 180mm or you just could get a cheap set of extention tubes to add to your current lens.

Anyway the first thing to do is not rush into anything, get the full feel of the camera and the 28-80 lens, decide how that lens doesnt meet your needs and work from there. Best of luck with the sony, you picked a good one.

Thanks so much Carl, I spent about 5 months researching and finally decided on the Sony, I cant wait to get started with it, I got it on e-bay a real bargain! It has a nice feel to it though it is a little heavier than I am used to, I am taking my time with it and will learn as I go along.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Shutterbug.
