He’s got a gun!

Please feel free to offer suggestions on processing/composition etc. I was able to hold his attention for a couple of minutes so I have a number of other shots with the gun so tell me what I need to improve and I’ll see if I have one that makes the difference.
(Canon 400D with 50mm lens, 1/50s, f/1.8, ISO 400, no flash)
The eyes are just superb as are skin tones, colour and sharpness. Also your choice of DOF works pretty well. One obvious thing you could tweak is exposure. It’s a tad hot with areas of his face looking pretty blown. If you shot in RAW I’d be inclined to see if I could drag these back a little and recover some detail/tone it down. But my biggest niggle is the gun.. it’s too much of a distraction and blocks too much of his face. But that said, I keep getting attracted back to those eyes :)
Loving those eyes too – so crystal clear, and super sharp. I’d agree with Ciaran that the gun is a slight distraction – maybe a different composition would have avoided this? Also (and it’s a minor point) – the background looks a little cluttered – again, a slight change in composition would hae avoided this.
Choice of DOF is great, and you’ve really captured the mood well – great job!
