I was going to enter this in the October Decay competition but didn’t, I can’t remember why, I think it’s actually better than what I did enter (http://www.flickr.com/photos/cian/330813184/). Comments and criticism all very welcome. Larger versions avaialble on the flickr page (just click the image).

That title had me laughing. It’s so true on many levels … coming from a person who gave up on public “transport” after giving it a fair try.

Cool shot. Never would have though of shooting there. The verticals are slightly off … at least on the left and that throws me … but it could just be me. I think I would have liked more symmetry on this one. I wouldn’t crop out the ruined bit on the broken right … too interesting. It might be cool to get more on the left to even it out. The shade on the bottom coreners has a nice effect.

In all fairness to them, things are improving, I’m just not sure they’ve improved so much that it’s worth nearly 60 quid for a return ticket to Cork.

I agree about the verticals, I find it a bit off as well. It’s frustrating because as far as I can make out, virtually all of them are pretty straight but the far left shadow isn’t so I don’t know what to do, straighten for the shadow or for the walls. The lack of space on the left is a little bit of a problem for me too, I thought it might be nice to present this as a triptych but it just isn’t wide enough. I think I’m going to go back and shoot it again because as things stand, there’s not much I can do. Looking at it again, I can see that I wasn’t quite centered, the shadows on the center panel aren’t even, so if I try and fix that it might correct (or at least mitigate) everything else.

    Thanks

Please post again if you do reshoot. As for the shadows …. I think having them far from symmetric might be even better, i.e. light coming in shaply from one side.
