Hello everyone. im very new to the whole photography world so please be patient with my basic/stupid questions i may post!

Anyway, i have a Canon EOS 3000 35mm SLR (used very little i might add) but im getting a DSLR ASAP, i was thinking about the Canon 400D-what are your thoughts?

The site looks great so far, looking forward to learning and sharing as much as i can.

Welcome along Seamus. The 400D is a good camera to learn on. Do a little searching in the camera section and you’ll find plenty of comments on it. If you’re happy with the model then make sure you shop around … the pricing can vary wildly … and there is a cashback on offer from Canon at the moment.

Welcome in Seamus, I use the older 350d and I love it.
Great camera to cut your teeth on.
Plus Canon is by far a superior brand ( watch for the outraged replies hehehehehe )

    Seriously though have fun posting.

Cant go wrong with Canon really. But its a a preference really I know plenty Nikon, Fuji etc users that wont stray from what they use.And afraid that other brands might burn their hands. Each to their own.I use Canon because I know where the controls are, you should have see me when I got the Fuji…Talk about confusion

    OK, you’ve convinced me.

I’ll ditch my Nikon D200, Nikkor 35mm f2, 50mm f1.4 and 18-200mm VR, my Sigma 14mm f2.8 along with my SB800 Flash, SC29 Flash Extender Cable and MC36 Remote Cable.

I obviously have no option now but to buy a 350D with 17-55 Kit lens as I’m weary at getting inferior quality shots :) :) :) :)

Robbie, we all know the camera does not make the photographer.
The Canon is an excellent camera, I’m just a crap photographer.

You know what I mean – right

    Welcome Seamus.
Remember, we all ask basic questions, but there is no such thing as a stupid one.
Just ask. Someone will know the answer.
