Hi i’ve just moved back to Ireland from abroad and whilst away i took up photography,i’m keen to see what people are doing with their own photography here so i thought i’d join!
My first impressions of the site have been a little negative,not of peoples work but of the interface itself,it just does’nt seem as user friendly as it should be.
When i visited the bookshop i could’nt get out of it,the obvious thing would be to click on the masthead to go home but it just refreshed to the bookshop again.
As i clicked on different users galleries more often than not i was told the gallery was’nt created yet even though it said they had content in the gallery,??
If anybody can explain where i might be going wrong i’d welcome it.Regards,Nick

The site uses phpBB which is a pretty standard and widely used web forum application.. so I’m surprised you’re finding it difficult to get around?
I think you’re better off having your own hosting solution and linking to images there as opposed to using the free one linked by the site, which you used for your fashion image.
As for the gallery and bookshop, I can’t comment as I’ve never tried to access either feature. Hopefully the little niggles won’t stop you from hanging around.
Welcome to the site Nick, I use the PI gallery because I dont have Flickr or any
of the other hosting sites used, and there is limited space available on this site
so I have to delete some old photographs to upload new ones, this probably puts
most of the members off and also most of them would already have outside hosting
sites, so that is probably why you couldnt find many of the member galleries set up.I can honestly say I have had no problems navigating the site, and find it very easy
to find my way round, I hope you will stay and contribute as new faces are what keep
the site fresh, a great bunch of members and a good mix of beginners and pro’s with a
wealth of information to pass on.Look forward to seeing some of your work also :)

Welcome to Photography Ireland and I hope you do give it
a little time.I have been a member since March and have not had any
problems with navigating the site itself.Every time I have logged on there it is with some new image or comment
to occupy my time.I have not used the gallery as I have no need of it.
I never even check it now as the first few times I checked, when I first
joined, there were no or few images in it so I thought, why go there?
I see all the images members want me to see on the forum.I’ve never been in the bookshop.
I never noticed it. :oops:
But now that you’ve mentioned it ……..I mostly post images to the critique sections to see what people might say about
them, write whatever comes into my head about other peoples pictures and have
a little moan when members don’t embed their images or post images larger than
800 pixels on the longest side.Every so often I make smart remarks, try to be clever and have a bit of fun with
other members in the General Chat section.Where would ya get it and all for free.
Yes Nick give it a chance I’m sure you’ll like it.
