Hello everyone! :)
I followed someone here from boards, this place looks great and a lot of familiar names too!
I live in Drogheda, and commute to City Centre daily, and I pretend to be a Software Engineer to earn a living. I just turned 30.
My first attempt at photography was back in early 90s with a cheap Kodak point and shoot, which for some reason skewed top 30% of the image to the left. One too many unhappy subjects and I couldn?t afford a better camera ? so I stopped shooting. Later in 2001, I bought a Fuji Finepix 1200 (1.2 million pix) and in 2003,a Sony 717. Still dreaming about buying my first DSLR.?!
I am a lurker by nature but I will try to comment/post more here. I have just started looking beyond point and shoot, and hopefully I wouldn?t get on someone?s nerves with silly comments or stupid questions! Well, I will try not to!

Feel free to post on any topic, asking any questions without fear of asking a ‘silly’ question. No such thing in here.
Everyone is still learning from the absolute beginner to the ardent professional. Everyone will be only to glad to help out.Oh and not everyone has an SLR in here either, so don’t let equipment get in the way of enjoying yourself :)

Don’t worry about getting on anyone’s nerves here, no chance of that as there are plenty of complete novices. Welcome along. Looking forward to seeing some shots. 8)

And it gets worse when you wake up in the middle of the dream and you are p*ssed because you almost had it solved in your dream and can’t remember it now?! :D
What? Thinking of work in your sleep. You’ll soon be dreaming only of photography :lol:

I was in the same boat myself on getting my first DSLR. Finally took the plunge on a Canon 350D three weeks ago.
Just don’t have the time at the mo to use it with work in the way.
Like the shots you taken so far.Thanks Banjo, Congratulations on the new gadget! Since prices have come down a bit, I am considering a 350D myself – someone from work travelling to the states etc… but knowing me, I probably will hold out for a while … for a 400D… Where did you get yours from, if you won’t mind me asking?

“Harvey Normans”. I was given gift vouchers for there so I used them on the camera. They were looking for 900 euros, but when I told them it was 750 euros in “Currys, Dixons and PCWorld” they confirmed it and gave it for that price. Best to shop around.
As for the memory card for any digital camera, go to http://www.shop4memory.com who are based in kildare have good deals and are highly recommended. Never had any probs. :)
I’m strictly amateur photography and have learn alot so far from this site.
