hi key portraits

got a new set of lights recently and had a first stab at trying to create hi key portraits. The two below were taken with the same lighting set up and more or less the same in camera settings yet the 1st has a more natural skin tone with the second having an unwanted pinkish hue. Any idea why this would occur?

The settings for the 1st were F11, exposure 1/50, focal length 50mm, ISO 100, Auto white balance set. (only difference on the 2nd was that it was F10).

I like both. The brush shapes maybe look a bit too elementary. Though I’m sure she loves them. I like the first shot and her expression is very good. She is obviously enjoying herself. Her skin looks a bit off in the second shot.

    Well done RAS

the first is lovely and big improvement on the second, the only slight issue i’d have is the cropping on the fingers – strange the pink hue on the second. ?did you need to shoot at such a low shutter speed 1/50 – the lower the speed the more ambient light mix and the greater chance of losing sharpness

were you shooting in manual and what white balance setting did you have? – still learning myself and have found if not using manual and/or if using auto WB instead of a preset WB the camera can do funny things
